Community Info
Our core business is the delivery of emergency pre-hospital health care and transport services. While this continues to be our primary focus, we also recognise the value of developing community safety and prevention programs.
Community Education Programs
Working together with stakeholders and the NSW community we have developed a number of community education programs:
- Be An Ambulance Hero – Dial Zero Zero Zero school education program designed for 5-8 year olds educates children on what to do in an emergency
- First Steps - a campaign designed to assist new parents in a medical emergency
- Emergency Helpers program aims to prepare children between the ages of 3-5 years for emergency situations
- Life Live It Save It program for over 55 helps retirees recognise and deal effectively with medical emergencies.
First Aid and CPR Training
In addition to participating in our community education programs we also recommend that every person learn basic first aid and CPR. Particularly in the case of a cardiac arrest, time is critical and knowing what to do in the first few minutes can save a life or prevent serious injury.
- Basic first aid and CPR instructions include short animations that demonstrate each step of the CPR process
- First aid and safety messages
- Download our fact sheets to help you understand how and when to call for an ambulance and prepare for medical emergencies.

Enquiries regarding ICE
We have not launched any campaign supporting ICE (In Case of Emergency) however we do support any method of contacting family in a critical medical emergency. Methods that can be used include information in diaries, wallets, drivers’ licences, and mobile phones. The concept of ICE has merit and would be another source of information to assist with identification.
Note: In cases involving more than one patient
or a where a mobile phone has been borrowed from someone else,
it may be difficult to confidently match personal belongings to
any one individual. This may in turn lead to unnecessary distress.
We recommend that individuals be mindful of
confidentiality issues.
