Operations Assistant (Call Taker)
The role of a Trainee Communications Assistant is to receive, accurately record and promptly progress telephone calls relating to the business of the Ambulance Service, and requests for the provision of ambulance services. They are required to provide relevant and appropriate first aid advice and reassurance in accordance with our protocols and polices.
Communications Assistants are located within our Operations Centres. The Operations Centres are a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week facility responsible for receiving telephone requests (including Triple Zero 000 emergency calls) for ambulance services from the public, allied health care providers and other emergency services. In addition, they are responsible for the provision of relevant and approved first aid advice and reassurance according to our protocols and policies.
We are currently recruiting Trainee Communication Assistants in our operations
centres located in Newcastle and Dubbo.

Where it all begins. The Ambulance operations assistant
(call taker) is the first contact that a Triple Zero (000)
caller encounters when they are connected with Ambulance.
